A Fit Road Trip: Arizona!

By Magda and Paul Wilk

Hey Guys. It’s time for another update as we continue our amazing world tour, visiting beautiful “Fit Destinations” around the globe. Today we’ll tell you about our most recent road trip. It started in Arizona where we hiked, trained outside and filmed new workouts for our Fitness Road Trip series.

We stayed in Gold Canyon, Arizona for few days and explored local hikes. We climbed the very challenging Flat Iron Hike at the Superstition Mountain. We highly recommend it if you’re up for a challenge. The views are spectacular, the trail is long and very demanding but well worth it.

We also had a very motivational experience there running into a 85 year young guy who hikes this mountain twice a week! His t-shirt said 85 or 58? The choice is yours! Not only did he look years younger, but we couldn’t believe how fast he was moving!  We struck the conversation and got super motivated by his story! He was so interesting that we decided to interview him. Be sure to check out the video on our YouTube channel: WILKFITNESSCOM  for amazing life and fitness advice! Remember age is just a number and this is a perfect example!

Another interesting place in the area was Goldfield Ghost Town which is just few minutes away from Superstition Mountain. It is an authentic Arizona ghost town that began back in the 1890’s – a very cool historic place to visit.

We spent 2 weeks exploring more areas throughout in the Phoenix area. Another hike we really enjoyed and recommend is Camel Back Mountain trail in Scottsdale. This one is difficult and intense! It consists of some large rocks, but when you reach the top the view is unforgettable. Definitely check it out when you’re in the area.

One interesting experience of this trip was (Paul) participating in the 8k trail run together with my brother Dawid. a spontaneous last minute decision. We registered just minutes before the event and I’m proud to say that we actually did good with a time of 40 min, not easy considering we trained legs the day before and stayed up late 🙂 But fitness is exactly that- a challenge! Always step outside your comfort zone!

This advice is for all you gym rats out there! Lift heavy weights but don’t be afraid to try different sports and activities! Train Hard. Live Well.

Next time we’ll tell You about our incredible trip to Sedona and the experience at the White Sand Desert in New Mexico. And be sure to check out our blog right here at DigitalMuscle.com for reports on ALL of our incredible fitness themed trips. Perhaps you’ll even join us on one!
