7X Olympia 212 Champion, Flex Lewis officially Retires!

by Shawn Ray

And just like that…..it’s officially over for one of our sports most decorated athlete of all time as The Welshman, James “Flex” Lewis calls it a career on his own terms after 4 years of competitive inactivity.

Flex will forever be known as bodybuildings Greatest 212 Pro Champion by virtue of his unchallenged 7 Consecutive 212 Olympia Victories! Flex wore the Olympia crown like a true champion and global Ambassador while building a legacy that will not soon be forgotten by fans and peers alike.

Flex just introduced the birth of his second child to the world and opened one of Las Vegas’ most popular training gyms just a stones throw away from the home of future NFL Super Bowl Champions, Las Vegas Raiders in the shadow of the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino off the 15 freeway.

One can only wonder if there was still enough Gas in the Tank for Flex to return to center stage of the Olympia when his business is thriving and the thirst for a return loomed large with the Mr Olympia returning to Las Vegas where the James family recently relocated to in order to build his future. However, with the recent announcement the fans are now at ease with the champion going out on his own terms leaving the world to wonder what might have been with the new 212 winner, Derek Lunsford grabbing front page headlines in the aftermath of his recent Guest Posing gig for the federation Prez, Jim Manion at the Pittsburgh Pro/Am last weekend………

2021 212 Olympia Champion, Derek Lunsford

As a former Olympia competitor of 13 years that competed at or near 212lbs for my entire Pro career, I’ve witnessed every one of Flex’ victories at the Mr Olympia and can honestly say that this year would have been the most highly anticipated 212 Contest Matchups in the sports history! That said, Flex’ final decision maybe his best decision to date as we the Fans are left wanting and wondering what might have been? Some questions and match-ups simply will have to take place in one’s mind and left to imagination which is the beauty of athletes coming up and others going out.

Dream Match up: Ray vs Lewis who wins?

While Flex is retiring from competing forever he’s hardly leaving the sport of bodybuilding as many top athletes train at his gym, he’s a sponsored Spokesman for several companies and continues to support the sport worldwide.
